The "Mutant Chronicles" based science fiction strategy game Axongrid was the first to be produced by Oni, back then working under the sub-label "Oni Technologies". It was acclaimed as a trend breaker, but also cursed as an intruder on the Mutant Chronicles lands. Axongrid meant to bring the world a new kind of MMORPG, but with many of the classic fundamentals of browser based gaming intact. This caused an uproar in some of the Mutant Chronicles communities, as they considered the game not to follow the universe story accurately enough. Axongrid was discontinued due to lack of time for the development team.
